I started setting up my home office now that I’m venturing back into the freelance world. One of the first things I wanted to do was configure my mac iBook with a second monitor. This isn’t an option by default, so I searched google for “ibook g4 dual monitor” which took me to this forum thread. From there I found a link to the Screen Spanning Doctor which I downloaded and installed. [now I need to restart...]
[restarted]
After I logged back into OS X (v10.4.11 by the way), I immediately opened the display properties in Sytem Preferences and found a new option: Arrangement. I clicked on the Arrangement tab and rearranged the monitors to match their physical locations, then adjusted the resolution of the new screen. Done!
This will help me quite a bit. The iBook only has a 12″ screen with 1024×768 resolution. The 19″ screen that I attached will give me an additional 1440×900 pixels of workspace. This is extremely helpful with Adobe CS3 products (eg Photoshop and Dreamweaver).
Now it’s time to get started on a couple projects.
