We’re through with the first day of our three day trek across the country. We began at home in Denver, Colorado and made it to Columbia, Missouri, where the kids are zonked out on the bed at Motel 6.

Our Goal was Kansas City, and we are about 2 hours east of there, so I am happy. We got a head start by packing the car the night before, but leaving late and stopping at Walmart nullified the preparation.

“Hello, Kansas.”

Kansas is absolutely miserable to drive through. However, this time, being late December, we were able to see a simply beautiful sunset. It almost enough to make me appreciate the state, but not quite.

We pushed on to Missouri, and found a Motel 6 with an indoor pool. The kids played hard for a half hour or so, and then crashed in our room. Time for me to do the same; there’s a lot of ground to cover tomorrow.
